It took us almost a whole week to recover from last weekend in Jakarta, Indonesia.
We've been invited to play at Club Centro on 20th of June, and we must admit it was one of the best times we ever had anywhere in the world.
The flight takes almost 16 hours from Budapest to the Indonesian capital, and since there's no straight flights from Hungary, we had to fly to Frankfurt first, then go to Jakarta from there via Singapore (where we had a one hour stop). We felt pretty tired when we landed, but the hospitality was absolutely top notch. LTN, our promoter (and great dj/producer) picked us up at the airport, where DjM from Australia also joined us: we were playing at the same party.
Had great dinner at Hard Rock Cafe, then we went to club X2 where LTN was playing that night. If you add the 35 hours of non sleeping to the amount of drinks we consumed, it's no surprise we had a brilliant time at the club, and we also found out, we have a pretty strong fan base in Indonesia. Some people even brought records with them for us to sign, and we weren't even playing that night!!!
Before we went back to the hotel for a good sleep, Marquee & Ditter took us to Dim Sum 24 to take away the hunger. We needed it badly...
Next day we got picked up at our Hotel at 13:00 to go to Dune Fantasia, a great theme park, where we spent the whole afternoon hanging out with Marquee, Dj Ready (who had his birthday on the 20th), Ghita (his girlfriend), LTN & Jason (DjM). It was surely a great day. When we left, we went straight to Club Centro to have our soundcheck. After that it was time for a nice Japanese dinner in Yoshi's, a restaurant just above the club, went back to hotel just to have a quick shower, then it was time to get back to play in Centro.
Boy, it was a great, great gig. If we thought we had fans there the night before, there were much, much more in the club, they knew the songs' lyrics, everything we've been playing was familiar to them, it was more than a good gig. All the dj stories we've heard about the dedication and enthusiasm of the asian crowd was absolutely true.
Before we went out to Asia, our good friend Steve Helstrip told us, we have to see this other club called Stadium, since it is one hell of a place.
Well, he was more than right. The locals call it "the dark side of Jakarta", and it couldn't be more precise. It is a BIG, dark club (4 floors, thousands of people etc), which opens on Wednesday evening, and don't even close until Monday. It's mad...
This is how we looked at the end of our party there.
Thanks to our new friends, we've had unbelievably great time at the Stadium too, and since our plane was leaving on Sunday afternoon, we decided not to sleep before taking off, which means we pass out during most of the trip back home, avoiding the boredom of long distance flights. We're not entirely sure when did we leave from Stadium, but we were so tired, it was hard not to fall asleep before leaving the hotel or during the way to the airport (Myon did sleep a bit in the car). Shane lost his voice completely somewhere along the dark passages of Stadium, so it was even harder for him not to be able to communicate at all. Well, he got it back pretty fast, but he had absolutely no speaking voice for a day.
After spending almost 4 hours at the airport doing nothing, the flight back from Jakarta was one big snorefest for both of us, luckily we don't remember much of it. When we finally got back to Hungary, Myon still had to take the train home, which was 2.5 additional hours of traveling for him, made his entire trip a good 20 hours long all in all.
But hey, we've had the best of times, so let us thank again to Louis, Marquee, Ditter, Pandu, Ready, Ghita, Mona, Darshan and everyone else who made this weekend truly amazing. You guys rock!!!
Our Jakarta gig also made an impact on the 5th episode of International Departures, where Track of the Moment is a record we got from the guys there. The new show is already available, so go and have a listen!
